“Where there’s a will, don’t ask me for the way because I can’t read maps.

Instead, ask me for the words to get you there.”

Transcreation, translation, editing and proofreading

Dutch / French / German / Italian > English (UK)

How can I help?

Transcreation

You send me your copy in Dutch, French, German or Italian.

You love your copy. Your copy is entertaining or commercial and speaks to people’s emotions. You want your English copy to do the same.

You want unique, moving, creative English copy that is sensitive to your brand and audience.

Adverts. Banners. Blogs. Brochures. Campaigns. Cultural events. Flyers. Marketing. Literature. Poetry. Slogans. Websites. Big brands. Small brands.

Translation

You send me your copy in Dutch, French, German or Italian.

You’re happy with your copy. Your copy informs and explains rather than sells and entertains.

You want equivalent English copy that reflects your brand identity or organisation’s tone of voice and is clear and easy to read.

Annual reports. Insurance policies. Instruction manuals. Official publications. Legal contracts. Protocols. Pension policies. Big brands. Small brands.

Editing

You send me your copy in English.

You like your copy, but you think it needs something more. You want a cut and restyle. You want your new copy to be more readable, more accessible and more attractive.

You want your copy to emanate your existing or new brand or corporate identity.

Proofreading

You send me your copy in English.

You like your copy. Your copy is ready for posting or publishing. You want a final check. You want to make sure the spelling, grammar, word order and intended message of your English copy is flawless.

You want to be even more confident about your copy.

About me

I’m Luke Alsop from Wakefield (Yorkshire, UK), living in Maastricht (Limburg, the Netherlands) since 2015.

As a prem baby who couldn’t wait to listen and speak to the world, I’ve since gone through several growth phases – if not in height, then certainly linguistically – in pursuit of what I love: learning languages and helping companies to express their message in English.

Over the past decade, I’ve devoted most days of my life to transcreating, translating, editing and proofreading. I’m not bored yet.

Wakefield. High school. Early-onset language bug infection. Rain.

Durham. University. Academic language bug infection. Cloudy.

Maastricht. Professional language bug infection. Spots of sunshine.

Now. Freelance language bug dream. Sun and blue skies.
