Why does LukesTheWord process your data?
LukesTheWord processes your data:

What type of personal data does LukesTheWord process?
LukesTheWord processes the following data if you fill in the online form on the website:
- First name and last name;
- Company name;
- E-mail address.
If you choose to use a service of LukesTheWord, LukesTheWord will also process the following data for quotes and invoices:
- Your address;
- Your VAT number;
- Your Chamber of Commerce registration number (if applicable);
- Your bank account number.
Special categories of data
LukesTheWord does not collect or process special categories of personal data as defined in Article 9 of the GDPR.
Personal data of minors
LukesTheWord’s website and services don’t intend to collect data from a person aged 16 or below.
If you’re convinced that LukesTheWord has inadvertently collected this data without consent, please e-mail hello@lukestheword.com and LukesTheWord will erase this data.
What happens if you don’t provide personal data?
You’re not obliged to provide any personal data, but without that personal data, LukesTheWord will be unable to provide you with a service.
Who receives your personal data?
The personal data you disclose on the contact form will be sent to LukesTheWord’s e-mail account (hello@lukestheword.com). This personal data is used only for the purpose for which it is collected.
The LukesTheWord website is hosted on Squarespace. Squarespace collects data when you visit the LukesTheWord website, including but not limited to:
- Information about your browser, network and device;
- Web pages you view while on this website;
- Your IP address.
Squarespace needs the data to run the LukesTheWord website, and to protect and improve its platform and services. Squarespace analyses the data in a de-personalised form.
Does LukesTheWord share data with third parties?
LukesTheWord may share your personal data with third parties if this is necessary for the performance of a job (transcreation, translation, editing or proofreading) or to comply with a legal obligation. These third parties have access only to the data that they need to perform their job. An example of a third party who has access to data is LukesTheWord’s accountant.
Does LukesTheWord send personal data outside the EU and the UK?
LukesTheWord itself sends no personal data to any third party outside the EU. The website host of LukesTheWord, Squarespace, processes personal data in a way that meets the European Commission and UK Standard Contractual Clauses, as stated on Squarespace’s website.

LukesTheWord does not sell any personal data.
How does LukesTheWord keep your personal data secure?
LukesTheWord has organisational and technical measures in place to protect your personal data from theft, loss or unauthorised use, disclosure or alteration.
How long does LukesTheWord store your personal data?
LukesTheWord won’t store your personal data for longer than is strictly necessary for the purpose for which the personal data is collected.
If a legal minimum retention period applies, LukesTheWord must respect this and may erase your data only at the end of this period. Under Dutch tax law, for example, the minimum storage period for debtors’ and creditors’ administration is 7 years.
Where does LukesTheWord store your personal data?
LukesTheWord securely stores your data on a local drive and in a secure cloud backup.
What are your data rights?
You have the right to view, rectify or erase your personal data. You also have the right to withdraw your consent to data processing or to object to the processing of your personal data by LukesTheWord. You are also entitled to data portability. This means you can ask LukesTheWord to send the personal data it has in your computer file to you or another organisation specified by you.
Exercising your rights
If you wish to exercise your rights, please e-mail hello@lukestheword.com. You must also be able to prove you are who you say you are. To do so, please:
- send a copy of your proof of identity with the request;
- black out your passport photo, MRZ (machine readable zone), passport number and citizen service number (BSN in the Netherlands) in this copy. This is to protect your privacy.
LukesTheWord will respond as quickly as possible to your request, in any case within 4 weeks.
Are there any other ways to submit an objection?
If, like LukesTheWord, you’re based in the Netherlands, the Dutch Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (Data Protection Authority) also provides more information about the GDPR. You can also lodge a complaint with them.
Does LukesTheWord use automated decision-making?
LukesTheWord doesn’t make decisions based on automated processing on matters that can have (significant) consequences for data subjects. Automated decision-making means that a decision is taken by a computer program or system, with no human intervention.
What are cookies and what type of cookies does LukesTheWord use?
LukesTheWord uses functional and analytical cookies on its website.
